Secondlife

Secondlife was really frustrating. I play the Sims which is easier to work with. So switching to secondlife was very difficult. The plus side of secondlife is that we have more freedom to create, we can visit other creations,  and we can actually interact with other people. I couldn't make my avatar look like me too much, but I tried my best.

My adventures were fun. I've gotten to ride an elephant, fly a plane, get eaten by a plant, and I've gotten to ride the longest water slide I've ever seen. Here's are some pictures from my fun.

Beware below: Here's a pic of some guy dressed as a girl. He kept wanted to slow dance with me, but I got creeped out and ran. He stalked me for a little bit, but then got mad and went away. Haha, be careful about who you talk to on the internet. :P

Below: Here's me watching the Prince of Persia in someone's home. They had a movie theater room. XD

I am hooked on secondlife. I will be playing for a while, and I might even pay for the year account so I can have my own land. Thanks Mr. Glenn for this fun and for this distraction from homework. :D

Scott Wade

Scott Wade

This guy is known for drawing on dirty car windows. It is really interesting because I've never seen anything like this. He lives in a very dirty area, so he was inspired by his surroundings.

This is really something different. I like how it's really detailed and not just body shapes. I really like how he took effort into making the hair and fur on the people, and I also like how he drew the clothes. He really took time into doing this. I love it.

This one is my favorite so far.

This lady is amazing. I love this style of art. It's kind of like the album cover for the HelloGoodbye band. It reminds me of the art I did back in high school. It's simple drawing, but there is so much to it. Every small piece speaks in big way. I like her work because it's something that I have to sit and stare at for awhile. Not in a confuse way, but a interested way. I like the art that every time I look at it, I find something new in it. I enjoyed her work. She is really talented.

Cool Pictures I Found

This was so cool. I would not have the patience to do this. The art pieces created here were made by different artist. I don't know their names. I just thought I share this with you. Enjoy!

Sorry. I'll post more pictures up later, because only one was able to load right now.

Eva and Franco Mattes

Born in Italy.

They were known for being hackers of discontinued websites and remaking other artist's work. They thought that people used websites wrongly, so the Mattes did something different where, "the beholder becomes an artist and the artist becomes a beholder," and they created their website is 0100101110101101.ORG

A lot of their work was evolved around plagiarism. They believed that anyone who claims are work is original should rethink that, because everything in our culture today is plagiarized.

These two first gained their fame by making the website vaticano.org to undermine the Catholic church. I went to the website, and I don't understand how it undermines the Catholic church, but maybe they switch the website.

My Generation
A video on the computer screen was playing videos of people who have lost control in anger while playing video games, and the video game ends with a calm very young child playing a shooting game. Maybe the Mattes are trying to say that video games are making our youth worse and irritable. And the kid standing in the photo is experiencing all of this at an age too young.

From 1995-1997, the couple went other the world touring famous museums. They stole dozens of pieces from well-known works by Duchamp, Kandinsky, Beuys, and Rauschenberg.

Portraits
They use secondlife. They knew that avatars are supposed to be self-portaits, but  when people make avatars, they make them look like how they wished they looked like and not how they really look like. They also stated that in secondlife, we live fake lives, lives we wish we had so that's why we are so attracted to the virtual world. we are forced not to be ourselves, but it still doesn't hide our true identity.

Murder
They created a fake Serbian artist named Luther Blissett. This artist created two gruesome and realistic models murder scenes. Their message was while artists are making shocking artwork absorbed by the market, real violence is being perpetrated and ignored by our media.

Colorless, Odorless, and Tasteless
They recreated an arcade game machine so it kills the people playing it. They made a car racing game with an engine in the back that spews out carbon monoxide. The player controls how much gas comes out of the machine. I think the meaning of this is that video games are killing us slowly by filling our minds with junk. Just like how the gas can be controlled, we can control how much junk we absorb.

No Fun
Eva and Franco used a chat room to show a fake suicide scene. Hundreds of people watched as Franco hanged for hours. Some were scared, some laughed, some took pictures with their phones, and only one person actually called the police. The video was deleted by Youtube. Their purpose was to show artwork outside the traditional art spaces.

Watch!!! Video below.

This couple somewhat impressed me. From what I read, the only thing I like so far is their arcade game machine and the fake suicide video because they made great points. The other projects that I read from were either messages were obvious or just didn't impact/interest me too much. They have had so many projects though. Platt Byard Dovell White

He's a canned food artist.

This took 5000 cans. He made this for a charity event. All the cans of sliced bamboo and stuffed vine leaves were donated afterwards.

Wow. You can take anything and make art out of it. This is really interesting. I'm sure this took a lot of time and patience. I'm positive that he used glue for the the mushrooms, but it hard to tell for everything else. I wanna see if he could make a plane next. Maybe I should try. :)
